Aviation: UK-Canada bilateral agreed

On November 30, hot on the heals of its deal with the USA, the UK government announced that it had reached a post-Brexit bilateral air services agreement with Canada. The development will help secure £17.5bn of business that the nations conduct each year, and will enable 3.5m passengers per annum to continue to travel between the two after the UK leaves the European Union in 2019.

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said: "International cooperation is essential to a thriving economy and this latest agreement continues to build momentum for the UK as we leave the EU and take a more prominent position on the world stage."

The Aviation Oracle is delighted to learn that progress is being made on securing replacements for the extensive series of agreements the EU negotiated on behalf of the entire continent. Continuation of air services after the UK leaves the Union will be vital to the economy, and the deal with Canada brings the total to ten new agreements outside of the EU new - there are still more to be completed.
