Now or Never?

The Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday that COVID-19 restrictions, at least as far as law is concerned in England, are to be dropped is welcome but it is important to note that continuing prophecies of doom and gloom still come from ‘The Science’.
It is also gratifying however, to note that our elected politicians seem finally to be waking up to the fact that both COVID-19 and the virus that causes it, SARS-CoV-2, are things we have to learn to live with and adapt to; just as we do with so many existing viruses and the diseases they cause.
It would also be helpful to see the NHS, including GP surgeries, re-open their doors to face-to-face contact.
We do not subscribe to the view that COVID-19 is a hoax or part of a worldwide conspiracy. We do however, subscribe to the view that governments worldwide have been sent into a blind panic by the speed of the spread of the disease and by those prophecies we mentioned earlier.
It is becoming very apparent that many the leading proponents and the supporters of locking away a previously free people are those from the left. Most infamously, Professor Susan Michie, a known communist and member of SAGE; teaching and other unions; Paddy Lillis, general secretary of the Usdaw union, said retail workers found the plans "deeply worrying" because of their increased risk of contracting the virus.
"Retail staff are working with the public every day and are deeply worried about catching Covid-19. This is not the right time to water down safety in stores and the Government should not be removing the requirements of face coverings and distancing in busy public areas like shops," he said.
If now is not the right time, when? If the left have their way, when will be never.
There are a number of other means to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 although none will eradicate it. ‘Zero-Covid’ is a fantasy and Trade Unions would better serve their member’s interests by focussing on the job losses that have already happened and will happen further due to lockdowns, left-wing scientists and government overreaction.
