News: Istanbul New Airport transfer on March 3
The Turkish authorities have confirmed that passenger traffic will transfer Istanbul New Airport (ISL) on March 3. The new facility partially opened with very limited flights in October last year, but a target to move the majority of services from Atatürk on December 28 was missed. A spokesman for the operator İGA said: "We are all ready for the occasion."

Kadri Samsunlu, CEO of airport operations at İGA added: "As a major hub at the intersection of Asia, Europe and the Middle East, we will bring the world closer together. With an initial capacity to serve 90m people, which will be expanded to 200m once all phased are completed, Istanbul airport will be the biggest airport in the world.”
Although passenger operations will move from Atatürk in early March, cargo flights are expected to remain at the existing airport until later in the year.
